I am interested in finding out this setup. I could not find the setting in control panel/setting in gmail.

I got curious, searched around and tried it out.

1 – Go to settings
2 – Accounts and imports tab
3 – 2nd section (for me) “Send mail as:”
4 – enter an email address : myname@gmail.com can have myname+subemail@gmail.com
5 – test it out – subscribe to a mailing list with the new email address and see if it worked

I just subscribed to my list with nahyanchowdhury+nahyan@gmail.com and a new message came with the “reply-to” box saying the new email. I find this very cool.

Then you can filter all messages that come through myname+subemail@gmail.com if you want, specific label/folder etc.

How do I ask to be taken off the mailing without being seen as not want to know the affairs of the ummah?

I have started asking people to change my email address but that has failed (which effectively is a violation of state laws), then I just went into un-subscriber from mailing list.

One of the coolest things about Gmail is that you can set up sub-accounts under your Gmail account and make filters like that. For example, if you’re name is fulaan and you’re getting AlMaghrib emails, you can subscribe to all of their mailing lists by putting in the email fulaan+almaghrib@gmail.com and make filters that every time you get emails sent to that, it should automatically be labelled AlMaghrib and can be archived if you want. If you want to save a note, then you can just email yourself at fulaan+notes@gmail.com and keep a folder/label just for notes.
